My name is Hailey Jefferson and I was born on March 30, 2002 in Austell, Georgia. I lived in Austell until I was 2 then moved to Suwanee, Georgia where my family and I continue to live today. I attended North Gwinnett middle school and graduated from North Gwinnett high school. At the age of 8 I started playing softball and it was one of the many things that brought me pure happiness. Softball was something that I was really good at and being a competitive person, it made me happy to be good at something that I loved. When I tried out for the freshman team in high school and didn’t make it, I got discouraged and stopped playing. Back in middle school, I was self conscious even before I knew what being self conscious was. I always had struggles with how my body looked and though I overcame a lot of my insecurities I still have much work to do with improving my self image. Dealing with these insecurities allowed me to find a hidden passion in the importance of human nutrition. After doing research on diets for weight loss I learned about the importance of a meat-free diet and became vegetarian shortly after. I started watching documentaries and reading articles to further understand the science of the human body. I discovered that meat and food sourced from animals are not a necessity but the exact opposite. I aim to pursue a career in human nutrition and become a dietician to spread the significance of a healthy diet.
